About Veran Finance

I'm a freelance web developer, so I know what it's like when nobody withholds your taxes, nobody sets up your retirement plan, and nobody explains any of it to you. You figure it out on your own, usually late at night, with ten tabs of conflicting advice open.

I built this site to be the resource I wish I'd had: clear, practical guides for freelancers, contractors, and self-employed people in the US on taxes, retirement, health insurance, and managing irregular income.

Who's behind this

I'm Manel Vadillo. I live in Andorra and I'm a freelance web developer. This site is written from outside the US, about US federal rules for freelancers and the self-employed. That's the audience it's built for, and every number comes from the IRS or another official source, linked in each guide. I chose this topic because I work for myself and wanted clear answers backed by official sources.

I'm not a US tax professional and I hold no US tax credentials. I'm not a CPA, an Enrolled Agent, an attorney or a licensed advisor, and nobody of that kind reviews the guides.

How I work

Every guide starts from official sources, mainly IRS publications and forms, along with Treasury regulations in the Federal Register and the HHS poverty guidelines where they apply, and I link to them in each article so you can check anything yourself.

I use AI tools (Anthropic's Claude) to research and draft the guides and to build the calculators. That doesn't change the rules: every figure has to match the official source linked in the guide, and the numbers in examples are computed by the site's code, not typed by hand.

Numbers like contribution limits, tax brackets, and deadlines are checked against the current year's official figures, and each guide shows when it was published and, if it's changed since, when it was last updated. When the rules change, I update the guides. If you spot a mistake, let me know through the contact page and I'll fix it.

I'm not a CPA, tax attorney, or licensed financial advisor. Everything here is educational. It's meant to help you understand your options and ask better questions, not to replace professional advice.
